What about me??? I guess I write about random thoughts, or my take on things in life. Mostly satirical, I like that the best......

WOTD
Supererogation (noun)
Pronunciation: [su-pê-'rer-ê-gey-shên]
Definition: The act of performing beyond the call of duty; the act of doing more than is necessary.
Usage: Doing more than is required might seem to be a virtue, but the connotation of this word is also redundancy. The clichés "taking coals to Newcastle" or "gilding the lily" express redundant supererogation. Today's noun is derived from the verb "supererogate"; its adjective is "supererogatory" [su-pêr-ê-'rah-gê-to-ri], as in "a supererogatory act," an act above and beyond the call of duty.
Suggested Usage: Seldom do we see such supererogation as we saw in the action of the rescue workers on the site of the World Trade Center catastrophe. Many people around the world, in fact, are to be commended for supererogatory acts in response to that tragedy. And at this time of year, can we forget Santa Claus's supererogation in bringing toys to so many children in the course of one evening? Hardly!
Etymology: From late Latin supererogare "to expend public funds" comprising super- "over, above" + erogare "to spend." Latin "Erogare" comes from e-, ex- "out of, away from" plus rogare "to ask" (as in "interrogate") from "stretch out the hand." "Rogare" comes from PIE *rog-/reg- "to move in a straight line." The same root became regere "to lead straight, rule" and "right" in English. In German it became Reich "empire, realm," in French roi "king," and rajah "king" in Sanskrit. "Rule," "regular" and "rake" all share the same source. Visit our FAQ sheet for more about PIE. –Dr. Language, YourDictionary.com
No one would ever accuse me of this.......LOL
WOTD
Querulous (adjective)
Pronunciation: ['kwe-rê-lês]
Definition: Complaining, peevish, irritable, out of sorts.
Usage: Remember that this word has 3 [u]s in it, including one after the [r]. Although it looks very much like "quarrel," it does not mean "quarrelsome." From about 1550 to 1650 we had a word "quarrellous" which was synonymous with "quarrelsome," but neither meant "querulous." Today's word simply means "peevish" and refers to a proclivity to complain but not necessarily to argue or quarrel. "Querulously" is the adverb and "querulousness," the noun.
Suggested Usage: Today's word offers relief from the tired cliché about getting up on the wrong side of the bed, "Stay away from Henrietta today; she is in a very querulous mood." Remember, this word refers to whiny, peevish types, given to complaining, not quarrelling: "Wiggins is such a querulous soul that he even whines about himself!"
Etymology: Today's word comes from Old French "querelos," a direct descendant from Latin querulus "querulous," the adjective from queri "to complain." The root originated as something like *k'wes- "wheeze, pant" in Proto-Indo-European. The advanced [k'] became [s] in the Eastern PIE languages, so the word turns up in Russian svist "whistle." In the Germanic languages [k] and [k'] became [h] so in English it became "wheeze" via Old Norse hvæsa "to hiss." (The consonants [wh] are pronounced in the reverse order of their spelling in English.) –Dr. Language, YourDictionary.com
I feel like this sometimes myself. Usually when I have to go back to work after a week off.

Also, when you are pretty you do not need to be smart.......But, what happens when the beauty fades. Guess you have to get smart quick.
Rainy Sunday
Back to work tomorrow, it was nice having off last week. I am ready for part time.....I hope some time this year.......
This evening we are going to try a new restautant, The Aspinwall Grill my brother and his wife said they had the best hamburgers there. I will take a vote on that. I tried to find their web site but what came up had their name on the page but it looked like a search engine page....what was with that.
I am feeling sleepy and I think there is a nap in my future............

Are you working now Widows Writer
Try as I may, it has taken me about an hour to get this to work. First I had to search it out.
Then it gives me the system requirements....XP Service Pack 2.(???????) So I google the requirements and what my computer tells me it has, it switches me to different sites. I start to download three times, give up three time, and back to it again.
Honestly, to install some of these things your need a MS in Computer Science....
Well, I am about to Publish it and see if it works.
UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME

PICTURES
I have finally downloaded the pictures from Thanksgiving. We really did not have a lot of snow, just about an inch.
I am having trouble with Windows Live Writer. On my Vista computer I can not get the FORMAT button to open and I can not chose colors, size or Fonts to appear...........and on the XP computer it has quit working altogether. I removed the program and reinstalled and all I get is a box telling me there is an error and do I want to report it to Microsoft. What good would that do me, I do not expect them to send me an email back. I think all these send error reports are deleted when they get to their destination...
Now the fonts are working......go figure.....This is our family room where were setting up the tables for dinner. Lucy, the cat, is exploring the goings on and she decided something was up. When people started to arrive she flew out of this room and was not seen till the last guest had gone. She has social anxiety issues. Here are some of the nieces and nephews, I told them if they didn't want to be on my blog not to look at the camera.
I set up the food buffet style, and everyone helped them selves.
I think I need a bigger kitchen for the one time I have a big crowd. Just look at the size of the pot of mashed potatoes......

BACK TO NORMAL, WHATEVER THAT IS.
Well, he did indeed get the pot. He went to Target and had to drive around to find a parking place. The replacement pot was $15.00, I asked what was the cost of a new coffee maker, he did not know but he thought that was expensive for the pot. I have to agree, but what else can I do. You need a pot designed to fit the space under the unit.
Emily also makes coffee for herself; she will be glad that IT'S BACK......
She got up early, 05:15 and work started at 07:00. She said she sold a lot of little things. The Mall Management sent out a directive that they were suppose to park as far away from the mall as possible, to let the customers have the choice spots. Number one, its cold outside, and number two, I am not walking to the end of the parking lot at 11 PM. Besides, she said, it is part of the Holiday Shopping Experience the drive around looking for A PARKING SPACE. She is a shopper too !!!!
Claudia's advice is nod your head yes and park where you normally park. A lot of employees all park in the same area and walk to their cars together.
I have the place half cleaned up but I do not know what I did with my iPod, I remeber putting it away but where was the place I put it?? Guess it will show up eventually. I wish my boom box had a AUX slot. I would like to connect it and play the music, I will investigate this further. Maybe I could find some generic speaker to connect the iPod to or a inexpensive boom box with an AUX connection. This requires further research.......
The refrigerator is teeming with left overs, guess what most of America is having for dinner tonight......Emily just said she had it for lunch and she doesn't want it for dinner too....she can have a PB&J sandwich....

I DON'T WANT TO DO IT
The meal has been prepared and eaten. Everyone was stuffed, including me. Why did I do that? I did the same thing many years ago and I vowed that I would not stuff my self like that again, I really feel like I am going to explode.
My relatives all took some food home and I have plenty of leftovers. The 24 pound turkey was delicious. It was all natural, no hormones and no antibiotics. It was very moist, I guess that is because it was fresh and never frozen.
The lid to my grandmothers roaster would not fit over the top it was so big.....I had to cover it with aluminum foil and roast it like that. I made enough gravy to feel a small army, wait, maybe 18 people is a small army. My sister Shawnna said she guesses she will have the Christmas Dinner at her house. She lives about 6 miles from me so it will not be a long haul.
I took some pictures, I told them if they did not want to be in my blog to get out of the way. My brother did not know I had a blog. What do you write about ??? Anything I want....Could I start a blog about archery......Yes, you can write about anything you want..... I told him I would send him the link....Emily said I had a lot of Internet chums, or maybe she said I had peeps...
I said earlier that I had no plans to go shopping tomorrow, my Karma had been changed. Someone knocked the(empty) coffee pot to the floor. It hit the throw rug in front of the sink and only shattered into about 10 pieces, if it has hit the ceramic tile it would have shattered into a 1000 pieces. So......I have to get a replacement pot but it is about 5 years old and a replacement is probably not available and I will have to buy a new pot. I do not want to go.............

QUESTIONS, ANSWERS, COMMENTS
Emily's sneezing stopped. She had taken an Allegra and a Zyrtec later on in the day. She went to work and grumbled about closing the day before Thanksgiving, but she had a $1,500 ring sale and another one pick one they liked. Wasn't all that bad of an evening in the jewelry, I think people still buy jewelry because of its intrinsic value, the gold and jewels. It will always be worth something and it will last. She has to get up early tomorrow and be at the Mall at the break of dawn for all the nuts who get there in hopes of obtaining a bargain. I refused to join the madness.
They still find jewelry from thousands of years ago.

This earring is as pretty today as it was long ago.
It is a White Thanksgiving; I took a picture of my back yard and will post it some time after the holiday. The turkey was placed in the oven at 07:30 this morning, I still have to chop the vegetable for the stuffing, and cook the red cabbage. That is a sweet-sour German dish, my mom used to cook it and Emily requested it today. It is easy to do..............

Another Break
For the most part, the cleaning is done. One would think that I clean once a year, LOL. While working full time, cleaning is sometimes not my top priority. I am talking about the type of annual spring or fall housecleaning.
Emily had to take another antihistamine, and off she went to work. The Mall is open till 9:30 PM and I doubt that many people will be out there.....they will be cutting their celery and onions for the stuffing and getting other last minute items done. Now, on Christmas all the procrastinators will be out there, including Chuck. He like to watch the hustle- bustle of the last minute shoppers. Not me, I like to be far away from the shopping on Christmas Eve. In reality I hate going shopping during the Christmas season.
His parents always had their celebration and gift exchange on Christmas Eve. They are gone now, and I guess we have opened the gifts then now that Emily is an adult.
I think I will be up at somewhere between 6 and 7 to get that bird in the oven. I have a roaster pan that was my grandmothers, I use it all the time, although I can not remember her using it. I can remember her making pies, they were really good, but somehow her cakes left a lot to be desired. When I was small we would go to her house after church and have dinner. What I remember most is how she cut her root vegetables into 1/2" squares. What a thing to remember. I guess I would have been about 4 or so.
She was widowed twice; and she lived with her brother who was a bachelor. He would love to watch ball games, especially baseball....What I found amusing is when the National Anthem would play he would get up from his chair and place his hand over his heart. Guess that would be funny when your are five or six years old.
To do yet.....cut the celery and onions.....I like the stuffing prepared in the bird. Chuck and Emily hate it because it is to moist....So I found a recipe that call for you to prepare the stuffing and put it in the crock pot and cook it on low for 21/2 to 3 hours, it comes out a little moist and the bread is golden. It is actually good, and it get all eaten, not even a morsel left to snack on.
Left to do: Make cranberry sauce and cut the veggies for the stuffing. Guess I should get up and do something..................
To all: Have a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving.
NEEDED A BREAK
A few days ago I was writing about the view of Pittsburgh. When you come thru the Fort Pitt Tunnels, well, I found my Pittsburgh pictures. The aforementioned tunnel is to the right of the pictured. The yellow bridge is where you come out and go across into the city.
The view is from Mount Washington, the tunnel goes thru this small mountain. There are a few restaurants up here and the scenery is a Million dollar view. There is also the Duquesne Incline. You park your car and ride up and have dinner overlooking the city. People from out of town love to do this. So, back to what I had started to say. I was looking for my Pittsburgh pictures and found one of them.
I am in the process of giving the house a cleaning in preparation for tomorrows holiday. I decided to take a break and write a bit. There is snow outside, my sister Shawnna stopped by and dropped off the second table and she had heard that it had not been as cold as it was one day last week since 1880. That is a long time ago. Actually 1880 was the year that my great grandfather emigrated from Ireland. He probably wonder what kind of place was this that it got so cold in November.
Oh well, back to cleaning....Emily is helping but even after taking her antihistamine she is stuffy and sneezing. I told her when she gets her own place she should get one without carpets. She is allergic to dust mites.....yuk.

LET IT SNOW,LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW.
I picked up the turkey today. It is 24 pounds I guess I will have to set the alarm clock for early to get the bird in the oven, dinner is at 4 PM.
I think there will be 18 at least. Talked to my friend Ruth in TN and she is having thirty. That is a lot of work, but her guests also bring a dish. That helps sooooooooo much, with the assignments passed out, and helping with the clean up it becomes doable.
I remember when my mother got too tired to do the dinner, then the children restarted the tradition. She was on chemo and it was just too hard for her. She did make pies to bring. Both set of parents have been gone for awhile, but the traditions continue. We will sit around and talke about their quirks, mostly my dads.......
Tomorrow is designated cleaning day. Emily and I will be up early and will do the things that need to be done, but somehow, I just didn't get around to doing them earlier this week.... Dusting the pictures on the walls, going thru the magazines and pitching all the opened, but having no action mail, evaluating all the things I have been saving but have done nothing about, and all the newspaper recipes that I have cut out and hope to cook one day. I collect a lot of them, but never make what I have cut out. Do other people do that too?? Where to put the books and magazines. Washing all the rugs and towels and making the place squeaky clean, and watch all my efforts been gone in one evening. But, I don't really care, we are here to give thanks and have fun with out families.
Thanks Karen
Well, it took me awhile but I did manage to snag and drag. After a few attempts. Now I have to find some of my peeps who have not received this award.
I will find you.
http://sometimesithink-krissy.blogspot.com/ Krissy whose husband is sick in Hershey. I always enjoy her entry's.
http://wwfbison.blogspot.com/ Lisa who is a fellow Pennsylvanian who love and devotes her time to the care and feeding of animals. That is a lot of work Lisa.
http://idonotrecallhavingamemoryproblem.blogspot.com/ Suzy who has been sick lately but always makes me laugh with her posts and also love animals.
http://lonestarconcerto.blogspot.com/ Jon who makes me laugh with his Texas sized trial and tribulations. Especially at the bank and Walmart.
http://attheendofmyday.blogspot.com/ And Jen who is always doing some cooking or other domestic activity.
Now how do I notify them?? Guess I will figure it out soon or maybe tomorrow.
Guess what, you now have to find five other people to nominate. I like the way you write and you always give me info and keep me amused.

Gloomy and Dreary Day
It doesn't look like this outside, but who knows by tomorrow. It is raining and then the temperature is to drop and turn to snow. This is one of the coldest November's I can remember. More like December. Guess we have a good chance of a white Thanksgiving.
I am off this week; and spending the time getting ready for Thanksgiving Dinner. Tomorrow I will pick up the turkey. This time I went to the turkey farm, it is hormone and antibiotic free, or so they say. The taste test will be here soon.
I have always purchased a fresh turkey, mainly because I do not have the space and time to dedicate sitting the bird in the refrigerator and letting it defrost for a week. I would need a refrigerator just for the turkey...Sunday I did a lot of shopping, today bought the decorative plates (nothing to clean) and some wine glasses. Soon all that will be left to do is the cleaning.
The above picture was taken long ago. It is on the campus of Grove City College, in Grove City PA. It is a very selective Christian College that does not take ANY Federal money from the government. They can set their rules and regulations and the Feds can not tell them what to do......Their tuition is very low for a private college and this is also because they do not have to spend money jumping thru hoops for the government. So, if you want a strict, no drinking and no anything else that a college person would like to do, this is your place. Emily visited there and said it would be just like living at home......Guess there is something to be said about no-nonsense child rearing....Grove City College
She didn't go there, she went to Baldwin Wallace College. I am glad that all that college searching is over and done. I find it somewhat irksome about all the totally useless degrees that are presented. With some of them you will not be prepared for anything. I guess some majors are just to supply some professors with a job. Kids find out too late when the graduate and are unable to find a job.

AFTER THOUGHT
I just found this link, actually, Emily sent it to me. Pictures from Life Magazine, Google has digitized it, she spent a long time perusing the pages, I have no idea how many images are posted, but there are thousands.
I enjoyed looking myself but have not gotten into the bowels of the site.
QUESTIONS, ANSWERS AND COMMENTS
They played "In the City" and started out with an earth shot and closed in on New York City, and at the end panned out at the shot was at the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh. There was one song that they didn't play, Emily mentioned it last night, but I can't remember which one it was. They ended with an encore of "Take it Easy" and finished with "Desperado."

YET ANOTHER WOTD
Word of the Day
Thou/thee (pronoun)
Pronunciation: [dhow/dhee]
Definition: 2nd person singular personal pronoun.
Usage: "Ye" (subject) and "you" (object) were the plural and formal forms of the 2nd person pronoun (= y'all, youse, y'uns) through the Middle English period, which culminated in Shakespeare. "Thou" (subject) and "thee" (object) were singular and informal. The relationship was parallel to the use of "tu" and "vous" in French. "Thou knowest" referred to a single person with whom the speaker was familiar, while "ye know" referred either to more than one person or to one person whom the speaker would address politely. In the object position, "thee" and "you" was used: "I know thee" or "I know you all." These pronouns are still heard in parts of Yorkshire, Cumbria, and the East Midlands of England and hence are legitimate Words of the Day.
Suggested Usage: The Quakers used "thee" as both subject and object form for some reason. The possessives were "thy" and "thine," used in the same way "a" and "an" are used today: "thy head" but "thine eyes" (compare, "Mine eyes have seen the glory . . ." from the song, 'Battle Hymn of the Republic').
Etymology: The personal pronouns in the Indo-European languages still share remarkable resemblances. English "thou" corresponds to "du" in German, "tu" in French, "ty" in Russian and Polish, in Bengali "tui," in Persian "to," and to Pashto "te." (Remember, Proto-Indo-European [t] regularly became [th] in English.) The pronouns were originally accompanied by distinct endings on the verb in the singular but not in the plural: I know, you knowest, s/he knoweth; we/you/they know. No one has any idea why the plural form of the 2nd person pronoun assumed the function of the singular form in English but in no other language. –Dr. Language, YourDictionary.com
What English lacks, and I have no idea why, is a plural of you, meaning all of you. Various area of the county have formed their own. In Western PA it is "Yinz" That is an abrasive word. "Do yinz want to order?" You can tell a person from Pittsburgh just by the yinz. I often wondered if they were aware of how it sounds.................no, they wouldn't do it if they were......A derogatory term locally, is to call someone a "yinzer" it is the equivalent of an uneducated yahoo.
WOTD
Stultify (verb)
Pronunciation: ['stêl-tê-fI]
Definition: To make someone appear stupid or foolish. Law: To allege or demonstrate someone is mentally incompetent and hence not responsible for their acts. To render ineffective.
Usage: Someone who stultifies is a stultifier and what they do is stultification. Their actions tend to be stultifying.
Suggested Usage: The legal sense is not often occasioned but does arise from time to time, "He stultified himself out of his contract with me by proving he was under psychiatric care when he negotiated it." Non-legal stultification is usually embarrassing, "How could you stultify me like that by being nicer than I am to my parents?" It is most often used in the sense of "render ineffective," however, "All Bart's efforts to convince his daughter to lose weight were stultified by his own rotundity."
Etymology: Late Latin stultificare "to make foolish" from stultus "foolish," a derivation of PIE *stel "stand, put standing," which turns up in "pedestal" (foot-stand), "stilt" (originally "crutch"), and "stout." Latin "stultus" derives from the sense of "unmovable hence uneducated." In English the same root emerged as "still" from Old English stille "fixed, quiet." It is akin to Latin stolidus "stolid, firm-standing." For more PIE, see our FAQ page. –Dr. Language, YourDictionary.com
A lot of times the stulidfied to this to themselves.....I have always know of this action, I was just unaware there was a word. But really, there is a word for everything.
The thing I like about English is that they take words from any other language, pull it in and make it a part of the English language. The French would NEVER do this due to the fact they would like their language to remain "pure" and the Germans would just add it to some other German word and make that word longer. I love words.
EAGLES CONCERT
With all the doom and gloom by the National Weather Service, nothing materialized except for a few flakes. About fifty miles away on Interstate 76, there was ice and an assortment of precipitation in the frozen form. It is amazing how the snow bands come of the Great Lakes and with in a few dozen miles the result will be so different.
The doors opened at 7 PM so we decided to leave at 5:45 PM. This was because it was also "Light Up Night" in the city of Pittsburgh.
We ran into so much traffic it was unbelievable. To get to the city from the eastern and souther suburbs you have to go thru tunnels. For some reason, unknown to me and many others, people slow down when they get to them. The speed limit is 55 and they decrease it by 20 MPH. Then, after you get thru the tunnel it speeds up again. This happens each and every workday morning and every time there is some event (Baseball, Hockey, Football.)
Back to the Eagles. It took us double or maybe even triple the time that it would usually take to get there. Fortunately more me it was downhill, my Subaru has a manual transmission and I dread traffic jams in an uphill direction.
We got in the Mellon Arena parking lot at 6:50 PM. It was about 20 F and the wind was blowing. In the meantime we are watching the people inside watching the concert goers freezing their butts off in the cold, dark and wind. That is real power trip and control issue.
At 7:05 PM we were herded in like cattle down a chute, at least there was not a knock on the head and a knock out. The seats were in peanut heaven, but they had two large screens with close ups.
The concert started, there was NO opening act. Don Henley said it was the "Eagles Assisted Living" Tour and then the music began. They play from 8:10 till about 11:20 with only one twenty minute break. It was outstanding; a combination of old and new. There was a special effect show projected behind them, the pictures were related to things in the songs. In some of the performance there were pics from the 70's. They sang a mix of mostly old and some new. The Eagles also sang songs from their new album Long Road out of Eden. I may even buy it. It was a good evening and everyone enjoyed it immensely.

OFF TODAY
This was taken long ago and far away. Actually it was a snow storm in Slovenia. My friend and I were living here while our husbands worked for an American company that built nuclear power plants. We took a long walks and the snow was exciting.
We are expecting snow here today into tomorrow. A total of six inches is forecast. So far there is nary a flake. The forecast said that six inches will fall between six PM today and six PM tomorrow. I am going to the Eagles Concert no matter how much is snows. It is only a thirty minute drive into the city; and I have AWD.......
Had off today and didn't do much at all. I had to get money and gas....Emily was home early because the great and powerful Penn State canceled her Anatomy class because of the snow forecast. We sat and looked out the window and wondered WHY DID THEY DO THAT. She is working tonight. I guess after Thanksgiving the Mall will be open till 11 PM. Seems like a waste of time to me, she said very few people actually are out and about at that hour.....
Back to work tomorrow....I keep watching the stock market and wonder how many people who were planning on retirement will now be working longer.......a lot of people will be graduating and would have taken the jobs of the people who retired.....I think it will be an abysmal year for the 2009 college grads...

TIRED AND WEARY!!!!!
After a long day at work I am glad to be home. Today I did orthopedics, Sometimes working in the OR you feel like a hamster on a wheel, running and running but getting nowhere. We do get the work done but sometimes it can be exhausting.
The weather here in Western PA is like January. Lake effect snow from Lake Erie leaves the roads slick each morning...I saw a lot of slip sliding the past few days. And there are fender benders, like the snow and icy roads are something that never happened before and it is a totally new occurrence.
I am excited for Friday. Emily and I are going to The Eagles Concert. She had mentioned once that if they ever came to Pittsburgh she would like to go, me too, really. It is also "Light Up Night" in the city which is the kick off to the Holiday Season; a few years ago the mental giants decided to call it "Sparkle Season" Just about every in the area was irked with that one.....Really, its the Christmas Season, if it weren't for the birth of Jesus Christ we would not have this season. I am not offended by anyone celebrating anything, so why did we have Sparkle Season......tell it like it is. And celebrate what you like.....I will just be irked about the traffic Friday and lack of parking, guess I will have to leave my home REALLY early to get a spot.

NIGHT SKY
We went there for supper, and I must admit, after work, in the evening, I find it acceptable to have a glass of wine. Riesling is my new favorite, it is a German wine, with a crisp and slightly sweet flavor. It is delicious....On the way home, in the western sky were two bright celestial objects.....I had to look them up, and TADA, they are Jupiter and Venus in the western sky. Jupiter is the highest of the two and Venus is closer to the horizon. If you click on this link http://www.pa.msu.edu/abrams/SkyCalendar/ This is from Abrams Planetarium in Michigan State University. Many years ago (in Fort Worth TX) I had taken an astronomy class. I really enjoyed that class and am delighted that I still have a bit of curiosity about what is going on in the heavens.....It has been cold and snowy, the ride to work was a bear, and the clear nights mean it will get very cold, but the sky was amazing tonight.

By Anya Sostek, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
For the first time since Oct. 22, school is back in session in the South Butler County School District.
After more than three weeks on the picket line, striking teachers in the district returned to classes today so that students can complete their state-mandated 180 days of instruction by June 15.
Both sides reported little progress in contract negotiations that went on during the strike.
According to documents posted on the school district's Web site at the start of the strike, teachers are asking for an average annual salary increase of 5.9 percent, while the district is offering 3.25 percent.
Teachers also want to decrease their current monthly health insurance premiums, while the district wants to increase them. Premiums are currently $10 for an individual and $20 for a family, according to the same document.
The teachers say that their starting pay of $33,621 is the lowest in Butler County.
In the final negotiating session last week, the teachers union offered to come down to a 5.2 percent salary increase in a sidebar session. The disclosure of that offer led to accusations from both sides of a breach in confidentiality.
The two sides will now proceed to mandatory nonbinding arbitration.

Here is the article I was talking about. Butler County is in Western PA, the now have to pay $10 per month and $20 for a family...AND THEY WANT IT REDUCED. Only people who are feeding at the tax payer trough would even demand something like this.

MONDAY, MONDAY....
Back to work, today I spent all day doing gyne. That is "Ladies" surgery for those who do not know......
Tomorrow is a bear of a day. There are about 60 cases on, and every room is jammed pack with cases. I think that a lot of people wanted to get their procedures done before Thanksgiving. I am glad I am only eight hours, but that does not mean I will get out when the eight hours are done.
It is time again, the time of the year that we all hate, when we get the packet telling us that it is time to select and enroll our choices for the next year.....The health care is the biggest......You will be very surprised when I tell you that people in health care are paying thru the nose for their coverage.....it will cost me about $300-$350 per month for my coverage.......I am sick and tired of teachers going on strike because they now have to pay $20 instead of $10 per month for their coverage. This is really happening here in Western PA. Also, the people who work in health care do not have health insurance provided for them when their retire.....When people ask me why am I not retired I tell them I am working for health coverage, and that is the truth and not a lie.......If I could retire at 54 with the same salary and health care paid till I was 65 I would have long ago. But, no, I am still working because I will get no where what I am making and have to pay FULL PRICE for the health insurance.
Also I have to agree with Indigo, Windings are something that didn't need to have been invented......

END OF THE DAY
I have decided that there are a lot of fonts. And some of them, to me are totally useless. Have you ever looked at the "Wingdings" Who in the world came up with that idea.
An example: This is an example of my name: Claudia. WTF does that mean????
That says; For example this is an example of my name: Claudia. WTF who can read that ????
Whoever thought of that??? There are a different choices of Wingdings, sounds like hot chicken wings to me.....
I'M SO EXCITED AGAIN.
I have discovered that now that the old computer is in working order, I can and did reinstall my photo editing software......It would not install on VISTA because it was not compatible. I am glad that I didn't spend money on a new program. I had been looking for a free program and I had found several, but I just didn't do it, mainly because I was too lazy to get around to it, but I had bookmarked the sites.
All I had to do was transfer the pictures from my flash drive and install them on the HP XP and the picture of the tulips is one I had done with the Watercolor filter. Maybe I will do some more and make a series; wait, what am I thinking, how much time will that entail??
Maybe I will rethink that thought.
OPPPS I DID IT AGAIN
Well, it really wasn't an oops, but I did install Windows Live Writer again in my old HP computer. I really do like this program.
So this listing is essentially a post to see if it goes there.
COLD OUTSIDE
I guess it was inevitable.......it got cold; cold enough to break out your winter coat and possibly your hat. There is talk of snow flurries all week. Not to worry with a Subaru......
I found out that my nephews may possibly bring their girlfriends to Thanksgiving dinner. My sibs are a rowdy bunch. They tease and actually if anyone can survive their scrutiny they will be OK. Right now that gives a total of twenty.
I ordered the turkey; on the bottom of the voucher slip it states: "Please do not call and check on your order." That tells me that people routinely call and check on their turkey. Emily says that people call the jewelry store all the time to check on their orders or repairs; even though they are told it will be two weeks to be in or four weeks to be repaired.
"Mrs. Smith, when we spoke two days ago I told you the order will take two weeks to come in." This is common.
Emily is sort of worried that the stores lease might not be renewed....but she also said that now she would be able to work as a Nursing Assistant for a few hours at the hospital. That would be good, for the experience and for the money. Last night she sold $1,700 worth of jewelry; an engagement ring and a mothers ring, good day for her.
I am working on setting up my computer for the scanning of old pictures. I got the scanner plugged into the computer. I guess when I start I should back up the pictures as I make folders from the start. Maybe I will start today...
I tried to move my photos from AOL to the site they gave me. All of them did not move; the tech support at American Greeting or where ever it is told me that some of the AOL folders are empty. I delete nothing, but where did they go???? I also have them backed up two places; maybe I could burn them to a DVD and have a third. LOL
The picture is from long ago not today.....Its not that bad yet.
WOYD
Pronunciation: [sê-rep-'ti-shês]
Definition: Acting stealthily, sly and secretive; under cover, out of view.
Usage: The verb, surrept, means "to steal or filch stealthily" and the noun is surreption "theft by stealth" or "secretive misrepresentation." Both are highlighted now by my spellchecker, indicating they are used far less often than today's adjective. Remember that today's adjective is written "surreptitious" with two "t's" and without any "c."
Suggested Usage: "Connelly thinks someone surreptitiously replaced everything in his office with exact duplicates." (Don't laugh at Connelly; the same thing happened to me!) The real challenge to all of us, however, is to revive the relatives of today's word: "Madeleine rose to the top of the company through surreption and intrigue." If the police in your neighborhood tend to ignore you, try this to capture their attention: "Someone surrepted my car under cover of night."
Etymology: Latin surrepticius from surripere "to take away secretly" based on sub- "under" (used in many words to mean 'under cover, secretly') + rapere "to seize." We Indo-Europeans have done well for people whose ancestors apparently struggled to distinguish up from down. The Latin prefix sub- "down, under" comes from the same PIE root that gives us English "up." The original root was *upo but PIE words often appeared with and without a mysterious initial "s." Even in Latin, super- "over" comes from the same root with a suffix –r while in Greek hypo- "under" (hypodermic "under the skin") and "hyper- "over" (hypersensitive) share the same origin as Latin sub- and super-. (See our FAQ sheet for more PIE.)

TIME AS THE LDS CHURCH.
Went to the LDS Church and scanned my files. I was working on it for about two hours, and finding nothing.
I had one roll from Rosshaupt, Bohemia (part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and now western Czech Republic). The amazing thing is that the church records started in 1645 or there abouts. Just imagine that those church records have lasted over 400 years. They were all in Latin, I got tired because the records started way back then. I will go and look at them again, I need to work in the 1800 and work forward for what I want to see.
I also looked at the records from Northern Germany, these were in the early 1800' and true to their nature or obsession, the Germans had listed families in "Kirchbuch" Church books. It listed Father, Mother and their children. The writing is in the old German handwriting. I guess if I knew for sure where my family came from looking at those particular churches would be easier. There were lots of Johann, Anna, and Maria's. Guess that was the popular name of the times. Will go back sometime this upcoming week.
I also called a new found relative and I found out for sure that my great grandmother was indeed a twin. My father had mention it that his grandmother was a twin and her sister looked just like her. My newly found cousin is going to look for pictures of her grandparents. She is only 5 years older than me; we plan to get together since she lives in the next community. Her mother was my grand father sister. My father was about 25 years older than his cousin.
I also found out that my great grandmother played a piano and some o her children played musical instruments; including a violin, bass and piano. I guess that is where Emily gets her musical talent.

Word of the Day
Tergiversate (verb)
Pronunciation: [têr-'gi-vêr-seyt]
Definition: Abandon a cause or reverse one's position on something.
Usage: John Donne (1631) Sermon V.16 "No tergiversation, nor abandoning the noble work he had begun."
Suggested Usage: Ever listen to a speaker talk for an hour, finally say "and in conclusion," then continue to speak for another 30 minutes? He (or she) tergiversated. Let them know it; the word itself should intimidate them into mending their speech habits. When President Bush the Elder said "Read my lips: no new taxes," he later tergiversated on the issue.
Etymology: Latin tergiversatus, past participle of tergiversor "to turn one's back" hence "to decline or refuse" from tergum "back" + versare "to turn." –

Friday, end of the work week!!!!!
I have also downloaded the pictures from AOL to my hard drive, but could not get them to load on to this site....do not know what the problem is there............
I also have not downloaded the Writers Program on the old computer. I think the Old computer is about 5 to 6 years old, which is ancient in computer time.........but it is working well.........Thanks to my brother-in-law.....he will be getting a gift certificate for Christmas, but he does not know it.......I hate to have people do things for me and they do not want to be paid. So a meal out would be great, I would like that for myself...
Today was "hand day" We did five hand cases and all went well. I find it amazing how different people perceive pain.....the surgeries were all the same, I gave the same medication, and more in some cases, but the pain tolerance was so different...........I think it is a combination of ethnic, and age related....the older tolerate more and the ethnic groups have been studied before. Is it a case of expectations or do the different groups experience different levels of pain?????? I have been trying to figure this out for years.....
Tomorrow I will go to the LDS Church and check my microfilms I have ordered, I hope it sheds some light on the past.....then onto the library.. I have always read a lot, but somehow, I am out of the mood for reading. Maybe it will improve with the adven of winter and less to do outside.....

Wednesday Eening
I contacted ACER and they had me disable to ACER e net management, but the problem is still there. I wish I had $10 for each computer woe that I have. Does everyone out there have problems too??? I can not be the only one that has computer troubles....
Today I ordered my Thanksgiving turkey. I found a turkey farm and they advertise that they are antibiotic and hormone free.....I will have to decide exactly if and how much better it will taste.
I am cooking the Thanksgiving Dinner. On the menu, turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes with gravy, cranberry sauce, vegetables don't know which ones yet, stuffing, and dessert. When we have dinners, the hostess gives out the assignments and we bring things. My sister Shawnna is going to do 10 pounds of mashed potatoes, I think I will give Kathy the desserts, Janice is always good for vegetables. We will have wine and beet. It is surprising that no one in the family really likes mixed drinks....
I ordered the turkey today. I got lost going to the farm. I turned right when I should have turned left. I did find it, I also bought Turkey Jerky. I like Beef Jerky, and the turkey was quite tasty too. They had all sort of turkey parts in the freezer; the prices were comparable to the super markets. I am looking forward to the day. I took of the week of Thanksgiving; I am ususally frustrated trying to shop and cook while I am working that week. I can get their early and avoid the crowd. I ususally order a fresh turkey, because it does not have to thaw; it is difficult to thaw a 23 pound turkey in the refrigerator...I will pick it up on Wednesday, put it in a cooler with ice in the garage and start roasting it early i the morning. In PA you can keep it in cooler because it is always cold in November. I guess I could put it out on the deck but bears have been know in the area and I know they would smell and eat the bird.....

Word of the Day
Pronunciation: [ve-rê-‘si-mê-lêr]
Definition: Today's word means "very similar" to the truth, i.e. appearing to be true or real.
Usage: The adverb is "verisimilarly" and the noun is "verisimilitude" [ve-rê-si-'mi-li-tyud]. If you can spell "very similar," today's word should present no spelling problems. Just replace the [y] with [i] and nudge the two words together.
Suggested Usage: The attempt to approach truth is, perhaps, most relevant to literature: "Realistic novels tend to be very verisimilar in their portrayals of human behavior and interaction." However, we do find uses elsewhere: "The congressman's speech lacked even an attempt at verisimilitude."
Etymology: From Latin verisimilis based on "veri" the genitive of verum "truth" + similes "similar." "Verum" is the neuter singular of verus "true." "Verus" shares a source with Old English waer "faith" and Russian "vera" with the same meaning. The name "Vera" comes from the very same source and, yes, "very" does, too; it originally meant "truly." The root of "similes" is the same as "same" and seems to be the origin of "seem." In Russian it became sam(a) "oneself" (can't get any more similar than that) while in Sanskrit it turns up as sam "together."

Word of the Day
Pronunciation: [vê-'rah-go]
Definition: 1. A woman of great stature, strength, and courage; 2. A loud, overbearing woman; a termagant.
Usage: 2. The plural is "viragoes" and the adjective is "viraginous" [vê-'rah-jê-nês]. Here is yet another example of a positive epithet for a woman gone sour (compare also "effeminate," "madame," "mistress") while those for men slide semantically in the opposite direction (compare "manly," "virtuous," "master"). Who said English is sexist?
Suggested Usage: Since the negative senses of words generally tend to overpower the positive ones, to say that Eleanor Roosevelt was a 20th century political virago, we might judiciously add "in the positive sense of the word." Your best bet is to assume the word pejorative: "So Henry is a bit uxorious (hen-pecked); who wouldn't be, married to a virago like his Trixie."
Etymology: From Latin virago "a mannish female warrior, heroine" based on vir "man" + ago. The same stem appears in "virile," "virtue," and "virtuoso," all borrowed from Latin via French and Italian. The root *wir- underlying the Latin stem appeared in Old English wer "man" retained today in "werewolf." The Old Germanic compound noun *wer-ald- "man-age, the lifetime of a man" reduced itself over the ages to Old English "weorold" and from there into modern "world."

Word of the Day
Pronunciation: ['quæg-mIr]
Definition: A quaking or quick bog, a squashy marsh, quicksand; (metaphorically) a complicated situation from which it is difficult if not impossible to extricate oneself.
Usage: The adjective is "quagmiry" and the noun itself may be verbed: "The steering committee had been quagmired in acrimonious discord for an hour before Harmon arrived and restored civility to the meeting."
Suggested Usage: In 1961, French President Charles DeGaulle told US President John Kennedy, "I predict you will sink step by step into a bottomless quagmire, however much you spend in men and money," as the latter assumed responsibility of pursuing the war in Vietnam from the French. The Middle East has also become a political and military quagmire with no foreseeable outlet.
Etymology: Probably from a confusion of "quickmire" and "quakemire." If so, it resulted from a process the opposite of folk etymology (folk alienation?) in which the first component of the compound has drifted away from a common English word. Since that time, the word has been clipped in many dialects to simply "quag." Other forms have emerged at various times in various dialects, to wit, "quadmire," "quavemire," "qualmire," "quamire," "wagmire," and others.

LATE SUNDAY EVENING
I am sitting here writing when I guess I should be getting ready to cooking dinner. Chuck doesn't cook, although I have heard he can boil hot dogs. Emily told me that when she was in grade school and I was on call (at the hospital) he would boil them on occasion. What he likes most is to make reservations.
We had lived in Yugoslavia; and his job was done and we were moving back to the USA. I made all kinds of meals, froze them, so all he would have to do was heat them. I had gone back first and stayed with my parents while he ended his duties.
When he got back I asked him about how it went with his heating the meals?? "It is hardly worth cooking and making that mess to clean up" DUHHHHHHHHHHH What if all the women in the world said that?????? It certainly WOULD be easier to eat out every night. If the cost was not a factor. If I asked him about that 30 years later he would not remember.....
We went to Sam's Club. We needed cat litter and they have large quantities and a big pack of Friskies canned food. We also got meat, they really have a nice selection. For tonight entree I have a pre packaged turkey tenderloin, mashed potatoes and green beans. I usually have dinner at 6 PM, tomorrow I am working till 5, so we will have shrimp, rice and another vegetable to be announced.............
Waiting for Emily to get home from Cleveland. She called at 3 and said she was leaving. That is a 2.5 hour drive. Traffic will not be bad everyone in Allegheny County is hunkered down watching the Steelers. Guess I should go and peel the potatoes even though it is a lot of work for 10 minutes of eating...............

LATE EVENING.
QUIET MORNING
I have found another tidbit on the Windows Live Writer. Down below where you select your font is a drop down with colors listed. So, today I chose fuchsia. Who knows what it will be tomorrow. They also have a instant spell check, and you have the option of adding a work to the internal dictionary. I know a lot of the medical words I use will fall into this category. With the spell check you highlight the word, right click and mend your failing spelling. TADA.
Emily is gone for the weekend. A college friend of her got married and today is the reception. Her friend got married somewhere in the Islands, had the honeymoon and now is having a reception. I think that was a cost saver. Anyone who was going to buy you a present will buy you one anyway. She will meet some other of her college chums and drive to Toledo. Emily said she thinks that weddings are just too stressful and a waste of money. I have to agree that more could be done with the cost of the wedding. It is said that the average wedding costs $29,000; that would be a great down payment on a house. I wonder how many people are paying of the wedding long after they have gotten divorced.
School is going well for her. She passed her medication dosage test with 100% so now she can pass oral medications. She will be graduating in no time at all. June 10, 2010 she said. She got her schedule for the next term. She will have ER, OB, Peds, and Psych. The hospital for Psych is out in the PA Mountains and she will be going in the spring. I hope snow will not be an issue. Even though she is driving a Subaru. Putting the schedule out early gives them time to find car pool buddies, which will be great in case someone's car breaks down and help with the gas.
While I was in Virginia the cost of one gallon of regular was $1.99 at the lowest. Here in western PA it is about $2.49. My brother said the refineries were closer to him. And to top it off they are still making record profits, we have really been ripped with the price of gasoline. Guess that is all for this morning.
This is what a colonial style parking garage looks like, in Williamsburg, in case you needed to know. All the buildings are in sort of a colonial motif. The McDonalds was red brick too.....

Cows
These are English shorthorn cows. The Texas Longhorn are of Spanish descent. The shorthorn were used for milk in the colonial times. They weigh about 1500 pounds each; I guess they used them to pull the plows too. They are very sturdy cattle.
This picture was also taken in Williamsburg, Virginia. I have been there a few time and had never seen this type of cattle before. Or, maybe I just wasn't looking.
