TIME AS THE LDS CHURCH.

I am still trying to add pictures from my download batch from AOL, it just is not working.......I think it may have something to do with being in a zipped file. I did not put them in the zipped file, by some incantation they went there..........I guess I should get busy and do some scanning, but I am procrastinating on that, as usual..

Went to the LDS Church and scanned my files. I was working on it for about two hours, and finding nothing.

I had one roll from Rosshaupt, Bohemia (part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and now western Czech Republic). The amazing thing is that the church records started in 1645 or there abouts. Just imagine that those church records have lasted over 400 years. They were all in Latin, I got tired because the records started way back then. I will go and look at them again, I need to work in the 1800 and work forward for what I want to see.

I also looked at the records from Northern Germany, these were in the early 1800' and true to their nature or obsession, the Germans had listed families in "Kirchbuch" Church books. It listed Father, Mother and their children. The writing is in the old German handwriting. I guess if I knew for sure where my family came from looking at those particular churches would be easier. There were lots of Johann, Anna, and Maria's. Guess that was the popular name of the times. Will go back sometime this upcoming week.

I also called a new found relative and I found out for sure that my great grandmother was indeed a twin. My father had mention it that his grandmother was a twin and her sister looked just like her. My newly found cousin is going to look for pictures of her grandparents. She is only 5 years older than me; we plan to get together since she lives in the next community. Her mother was my grand father sister. My father was about 25 years older than his cousin.

I also found out that my great grandmother played a piano and some o her children played musical instruments; including a violin, bass and piano. I guess that is where Emily gets her musical talent.

  3. I've always been fascinated with family histories, but it often takes an enormous amount of time & research to find anything worthwhile. It took me nearly two years to find some of my relatives in the Ellis Island archives, mainly because of variations in the spelling of the names.
