Tuesdays Trek

There is a small village at the end of the Hatteras Island called Ocracoke. Since we are staying at the top island of the chain so to get there I had estimated a two hour drive.

Emily and I left at 8 AM and drove thru a quiet morning business section of Nags Head. At the end of all the Honky Tonk we drove south toward our goal. There are a few small towns on Hatteras Island with a lot of rentals, shops, restaurants, and a plethora of outdoor activities ranging from miniature golf to deep sea fishing.

We stopped for coffee and at a bookstore. The only road, Route 12, down the chain of barrier islands seemed busy. Upon our arrival at the Hatteras Island Ferry the traffic was backed up and the man directing the traffic said there would be a two hour wait. Being the impatient person that I am and the temperature was now 92 I opted out of the wait. Since I did not go here are some pictures I found with my Google search.
