I’VE BEEN BUSY

Two weeks ago my daughter, sisters and I had a girls vacation.   It is hard to get in trouble with ones sisters.   We drove to the daughters house and the next day we went to THE WINDMILL.  It is amazing the number of booths and crafts that a person could see in one day.

Sunday we went to FINGER LAKES WINE FESTIVAL It was a sight to behold.  That part of New York is filled with wineries and we visited their representatives all in one day.   As we made our way to the car a deluge began,  the downpour only lasted for about forty five minutes but it was impressive.  I am glad we did not get wet.    We then did a little tour of MONTOUR FALLS NY, that is where our motel was located.   The ice cold air conditioning was a brief respite for the night.

We had dinner at VILLAGE MARINA.  We sat outside and watched the boats and after dinner we went for a walk on the docks.

On Monday we got up early, went to breakfast and then a trek up the WATKINS GLEN GORGE

It was a hike along the gorge, the path was built in the 1930’s by the WPA.   The rise in elevation from the bottom to the top is about 500 feet and it is estimated that there are about 800 steps.   Going back down was much easier, although it was hotter.

After exhausting ourselves on the hike we took a road trip to SODUS POINT NY.

At the end of our walking and sight seeing we settled in at the MAXWELL CREEK INN, and another night of air conditioning splendor.   Our inn keeper, Belinda, gave us a tour and the history of the Inn and a delicious breakfast in the morning.

Then we were off to my daughters house, which is not air conditioned and we left for home the next. We all had a great time with plenty of exercise.

  1. It sounds like fun. I guess I didn't realize Pennsylvania had some very pretty spots till Jack posted some on his blog.
