What am I thankful for? I am thankful that everyone in the family is in good health, and they are all working. I am thankful that the nieces and nephews and daughter all have become or are preparing to become home owners. They all have started with a smaller "starter home" rather than trying to buy a McMansion.
I am also thankful that the 23 pound turkey fit in my grandmothers pan. I had to cover the wings so they did not adhere to the sides of the pan. The turkey should take about seven hours to cook. I did not have anywhere to keep it in the refrigerator so i bought a fresh one and stored it with in the picnic cooler and put it in the garage. It was 19 F this morning so it had no problem with the refrigeration. That is one perk about living in the Northeast.
The menu for today is turkey, dressing, cranberries, ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, and green beans. Then we get to the dessert of pie and cheesecake. The house will be well heated from the oven on for such a long time and Chuck will build a fire in the fireplace.
Where will we seat all of our family, we purchased two folding tables and everyone will bring some folding chairs. Everyone locally will be here except for my niece who is a RN and will be working twelve hours today. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving (and save me some pie and cheesecake).
