BACK TO PAINTING TODAY

About twenty or twenty five years ago I had started painting water colors. I had really enjoyed it very much. But, one teacher quit teaching, the next one met an untimely death due to a heart attack while in her 40's and the last one stopped teaching regularly too.

I was at Pat Catans and saw a flyer about watercolor painting there. So, I signed up again and took my first lesson today. All I did was a little picture of flowers, but I really hope to get back in the swing of things. It is on my to do list, along with a lot of other things. The teacher is in his 70's but I hope he stays around of a long time. He also has a private studio and gives lessons there. I have to find out about them, it is in the next community and would be an easy drive for me.

I am tired of the cold weather, and after a high of 50 yesterday it is now going down to 9 tonight. I guess I am in the doldrums of winter. I like winter till after the holdiays and then look forward to spring. When I left work at 5 yesterday I did notice that the sun was still out and above the horizon. I find when I go to work in the dark and go home in the dark it is very depressing.

Emily and I went to Circuit City to see what they had on their clearance but the big sign said up to 30% off, any thing I was interested in was only 10 or 15% off, I did not buy anything.

  1. I've been hearing on the local news that Circuit City actually raised their prices due to the liquidation.

I would love to be able to paint with water colors but I have no artistic talent whatsoever. I think it's great you are getting back in to painting. Maybe you'll share some pictures with us. :)

  2. I have no talent, but in the past I've found it fun to just TRY to be creative. Enjoy your class! Maybe you can put up pictures of your work.

Lisa is right--unless you know the going prices of electronics, be careful at the Circuit City going out of business sale. Our local one closed a couple of months ago, and they definitely hiked up the prices before they discounted them!

  3. Oh I hope we get to see some of your watercolor creations as you create them! I would enjoy that

it is getting lighter in the evenings; that's always a sure sign spring is around the corner

our Circuit City closed right before Christmas, interestingy, it opened as a new store in May only to close 7 months later; that is sad

  4. I, however, bought a DVD copy of Planet Earth for a good price and finally stopped watching it so I could go to sleep.

  5. I began painting with oils years ago and my inspiration was a PBS show called The Joy Of Painting with Bob Ross. The orginator of wet on wet painting was an older man who has long sice passed and I believ Ross learned a lot from him.

Stick with it as it's a great comfort sometiimes.
