UP EARLY ON MY DAY OFF

This week has gone by so quickly; does everyones’ time off go by in a blur??   I feel that I would love to have off a second week.

I was trying to check on my Dashboard and although I had seen the Title “Blog Of Note”  I had never perused them.   I do not know how they are chosen, but, there is a wide variety of interests out there.   It is great that many people take time to write about what is important in their lives.

Emily is enjoying back to school.   She is studying pediatrics this unit.  So far they are on Growth and Development.  She spends two days at CHILDRENS HOSPITA OF PITTSBURGH.  This is just observation, seems like a waste of time for two days.  Two days at  A CHILD'S WAY which is a specialty hospital, it has  a “day care” for children with special needs that allows the parents to go to work.    A day with a school nurse is also on the agenda.

She will be doing Obstetrics at FORBES REGIONAL CAMPUS.  A lot of hospitals in Allegheny County PA have closed their OB departments, due to the cost of maintaining an OB department.   There have been a lot of consolidation to provide OB care without having to drive into the city.  She does her clinical starting on Monday.

My blogs have been lacking pictures and color lately, so I decided to add the blue flower to compliment the type.

I AM SO ANGRY

With the old computer, that is…….Seems it has decided to start clicking off the internet.   I get a message that there is no Wireless available.  There are two other people in this house that are not getting this message, but WHY am I ??

Then when I click on “Connect to..” it tells me there are no system there, I know damn well there is……it is mine.

But the most aggravating thing is when I get a message to “Contact the Network Administrator..””  Duh, it is my network and I suppose I am the Administrator,  because I am the owner of the network and the computer.

Tell me something I need to know for goodness sake…….I did a system restore and it is still not working properly…..and another thing is when I click on links it tells me that the network is not available…..it has time out……this is driving me crazy.

If I had a gun I would have shot the computer by now….

It is still clicking on and off…..making me more crazy than I should be.

OFF THIS WEEK

I am off this week and so is Chuck. Emily starts back to school Tuesday, I suppose she is glad to start and in ten months she will graduate and have a job. This semester she starts with Peds and OB. Then on to CCU/ICU and Nursing Management. It won't be long but it seems long to the person who is doing the education.

I guess I have a few things to do this week. I want to go thru some of my cookbooks and the ones I do not use I hope to either give them to my sisters, give to the Library, or sell them at Half Price Books. I like to go to Half Price Books but they do not give you much money, actually it is like pennies on the dollar. But it is better than gathering dust.

My stint as rabbit feeder is over, Shawnna made it back safe and sound from the beach. The weather was grand. All the College kids go back and one month from now we will be thinking of Autumn and the cooler weather.

I really did not make a to do list. I wanted to start sorting out boxes and saving what Emily thinks she may need when she leaves the nest. How does a person collect all this STUFF ???? It is an accumulation of thirty seven years I suppose. When we moved we had a sorting and sometimes a garage sale to thin the belongings. But we have been here for twenty years and it is either time to go thru boxes or move. LOL

I have been Lax

I have been busy at work and doing heavens knows what. The vertigo is gone, when I got back to work I found out that two other of my coworkers had the same thing......Now I am thinking it was some sort of a virus.

It was also sudden onset of severe vertigo, feeling weak and tired. I am glad to say it is gone, gone, gone.....

I am on vacation next week. I hope it will be on the coolish side..... Last Saturday I noticed water leaking from the water tank. How old was that tank, at least 15 years I would imagine.

We went to Sears and purchased a new one. They seem to have the best prices and the quality of their product has always been good. But, try if I may, I have to figure out is why the big emphasis on "Cobalt Blue Liner" What difference does it make, and who the hell sees it anyway??? The logic of that in a sales push escapes me. Does anyone else know the importance and selling point of a Cobalt Blue Water Tank Liner?

Monday was the installation day. Chuck gave Emily a tutorial on the installation process. The hardest part was draining the hot water. I wish I could have used it for something, but it was too hot to use for watering and we needed to get the new one installed. The job took a few hours and hallelujah it is working great.

Maybe those Cobalt Blue Tanks do not rust as easily, OH wait, I forgot planned obsolesce. I think people just buy it because of the idea of it. We also had to buy a new lawn mower. There was a Friend and Family sale on Sunday from 6pm to 9pm. It seems that anything you REALLY need was exempt, in fact, there were more exemptions that things for sale. The water heater was not included in the sale. The lawn mower was, I think this is because it was an end of the season (Does the grass not grow in the fall and spring??) item and they wanted to get rid of it, I suppose to bring in the snow blowers..... We got 20% of an already discounted lawn mower.

We had to go back in the evening of the same day of the Water Heater Purchase, it wasn't a problem because I could not have fit both of them in the Legacy and Impreza at the same time anyhow. Really, we did put the Water Heater in the back of the Impreza.....it was the hatchback version Impreza and in my Legacy Model the rear seats fold down and the lawn mower fit in there nicely. I love those Subarus.....

Surprise, Surprise

Had a bit of vertigo and did not feel like writing. The docs decided it was an inner ear problem. The prescription for that is a drug (Antivert) is as old as could be and much to my surprise IT IS NOT COVERED BY MY INSURANCE…… The cost of the damn medication was $8.95, which I paid for but why in the hell would that not be covered??? Sometimes I think the people who set up the formulary list have the royal heads up their royal butts.

I have the ORIGINAL birth certificate of my grandmother Anna Bartels b. 1900. I found it along with other family documents when my father died in 2004. My dad was a pack rat, but a pack rat is a genealogist dream.

The old document had been folded, probably since 1900. When I unfolded it it came apart. I posted a question on Ask Olive Tree Genealogy what would be the best way to repair it. I did not want to use Scotch Tape on the document. Olive had suggested a Archival Repair Tape and I found one by a company and I had sent them an email, telling them what I was doing and if I could order from them. I had added my phone number. To my surprise, a woman from the company called and told me she would send me a few sample packs and that would be enough to repair my document. Since they are samples they are free…….There was another suggestion about sending it to a professional archivist and I can imagine it would be expensive. The paper is of value to me and the family. It is not like it is an newly discovered Declaration of Independence.

What a wonderful thing to do….I am now waiting for its arrival

Early Morning Conversation

Chuck and I were sitting on the deck having coffee and tea this early morning. Henry the cat was meowing on the other side of the screen door.

"Quiet, Henry." said Claudia.

"Don't talk it will only entice him." said Chuck.

"You're right, I forgot, he's a male." said Claudia

Chuckle, chuckle. "I am going to post that in my blog" said I.

QUOTES

"We have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another."- Jonathan Swift

Ever wonder how many wars were started over religion, and how many lives lost?

"In nature, there are neither rewards no punishments; there are consequences."- Robert Greene Ingersoll

Does this equate to thinning of the herd?

Another Week Gone By

Up early and somehow I haven’t gotten to write in either of my blog this week.   I think, perhaps, it was laziness on my part.

This week was a little slower, several of the surgeons were on vacation and our ONLY cardiac surgeon went on vacation and fractured his wrist.   One would think if you have a profession that required the utmost skill using your hands one would refrains from risky behaviors…..Duh, look at Ben Roethlisberger and his no helmet, motor cycle accident.   You will have to Google that yourselves.

Back to the story.  Seems the surgeon will be off for 6 weeks and who knows how many to rehab.  The good note is it was a closed reduction and casted.    Maybe some of these risk taker personalities have a death wish.  Who knows what is going on in their heads.

I got approval for my education conference.   It will be in the first week of November and I will be going to Colonial Williamsburg.  This will be my third conference at this location.   A lot of people go in the summer, but it is so hard getting the time off with vacations scheduled.   The weather will be cool and the leaves changing colors.

I am on backup call today, actually, only 12 hours. At this point in time 2 hours down and 10 hours to go.   A coworker has the last 12.  Chuck made a decision to work the week of the G20 Summit.  Where he works is in the City of Pittsburgh at a major trauma center, I can just imagine protestors getting hit on their heads and heavens knows what else.   It may make the Jimmy Buffet concerts look tame.

Emily will soon be back to Nursing School, now that she is a Senior…….she is awaiting her assignment for the first term.  I think she is getting tired waiting for it to arrive. I hope it gets here today.

Last week she went thru the boxes she brought home from college.  Sorting out large masses of acquired stuff can be overwhelming.  The best method I have found is sort one box at a time and make three piles.   Save,Donate and Throw Away.   If it is totally useless THROW IT AWAY.   If someone else can use it DONATE IT.  If it is REALLY, REALLY IMPORTANT  to you and you can use it again  SAVE IT.

Seems to work out.   Now, I have to apply the same maxims to my own junk.   This is proving harder than I thought it would.   I have another pile  SAVE IT AND SEE IF EMILY NEEDS IT WHEN SHE GETS HER OWN PLACE pile.  This pile consists of household type items and art work.   After she takes what she will need then the rest will get donated.
